Today I am going to tell you about an endangered animal native to India 

                                        The Red Panda

This Cute animal is a mammal species native to Southwest china and the Eastern Himalayas and is commonly referred to Red Panda or Red cat bear . The Red Panda is a furry mammal with a lush red coat, a bushy tail, and a masked face.  

5 National Parks to spot Red Pandas -

• Singalila National Park, Darjeeling. 
• Nokrek National Park, Meghalaya.
• Neora Valley National Park, Darjeeling.
• Namdapha National Park, Arunachal Pradesh.
• Khangchendzonga National Park, Sikkim.

Habitat - Found in the sub Himalayan states of North East . In India , red pandas are only found in the states of Sikkim , Arunachal Pradesh , Meghalaya and Northern West Bengal {Kalimpong and Darjeeling}

Facts - 1. Even though the red panda is classified as a carnivore, its diet is almost exclusively bamboo.

2. The red panda is labelled the " first panda " because it was named nearly 50 years before the giant panda .

3. Both red pandas and giant pandas have a pseudo-thumb, which is a modified wrist bone.

4.The Mozilla Firefox logo is not a fox !!! It is  actually a red panda !!!  One of the Red Pandas nickname other than Red Cat bear is Red Fox .

5. The red panda is not actually a panda. It's believed that its name is derived from the Nepalese words "Nigalya Ponya," meaning "bamboo eater ". The red panda is more like a cat or a raccoon  .

Behavior -  Red pandas are territorial and solitary except during the mating season. They are crepuscular and nocturnal, spending the day sleeping in trees and using the night to mark territory with urine and musk and to seek food. They clean themselves, much like cats, and communicate using twittering sounds and whistles . Red pandas are preyed upon by snow leopards , mustelids, and humans. When threatened, a red panda will try to escape by running up a rock or tree. If cornered, it will stand on its hind legs and extend its claws to appear larger and threatening.
